The Nissan Livina (Japanese: 日産・リヴィナNissan Rivuina) is a compact MPV built by the Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan. It was introduced in July 2006 by the automaker and their Chinese affiliate, Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company at the Guangzhou International Motor Show and went on sale in December 2006.
Sharing the same platform with the first generation Note, the Livina was the first Nissan vehicle to debut in China before being released in other countries.
Power for the Livina comes from 1.5-liter, 1.6-liter or 1.8-liter four-cylinder engines that are shared with the Tiida/Latio/Versa. The 1.5 and 1.6-liter engines are paired with either a 5-speed manual, 4-speed automatic or continuously variable transmission. The 1.8-liter option is paired with either a 6-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.
The Livina is sold in Brazil, Middle East, South Africa, China, Taiwan and certain Southeast Asian countries.
The second generation Livina is a rebadged variant of the Mitsubishi Xpander and was launched in Indonesia on February 19, 2019.

The regular length five-seater model with a shorter rear overhang is called Livina or Livina XR, or in Taiwan as Livina Urban or Livina Sport, while the extended length seven-seater model with a longer rear overhang is called Livina Geniss in China or Grand Livina elsewhere. The longer seven-seater model is a station wagon-style MPV, while the five-seater model is considered as a roomy hatchback.
Livina Geniss/Grand Livina[edit]
The Livina Geniss in China or Grand Livina in other countries is a seven-seater model with longer rear overhang. The Grand Livina was launched in Indonesia on April 5, 2007 with 1.5 SV, 1.5 XV, 1.8 XV, and 1.8 Ultimate trim levels. Later the 1.5 S, 1.5 Ultimate, as well as the sporty 1.5 and 1.8 Highway Star with body kit were added into the lineup.
Only the 1.8-liter engine is offered in the Philippines and Brazil, while the South African market get the 1.6-liter variant.
In Malaysia, the Grand Livina was launched in December 2007 with two engine options: HR16DE (manual and automatic) and MR18DE (automatic only).[1] A 'Tuned by Impul' edition was made available in January 2009.[2] In June 2011, the facelifted variants was launched. Changes included: new front grille, black dashboard opposed to beige and instrument faces finished in white opposed to black.[3] Later the same month, the 'Tuned by Impul' version was updated.[4] and in July 2012, an 'Autech' variant was introduced. [5]
Livina X-Gear[edit]
In 2008, the Livina X-Gear was introduced in Indonesia. Based on the regular Livina, the X-Gear has black over fenders, sporty rugged bumpers, and roof rail which made it looks like a crossover. The Indonesian market Livina X-Gear is powered by 1.5-liter engine, while the Brazilian variant is powered by a 1.6-liter engine. In Malaysia, the Livina X-Gear was launched in September 2011 powered by Nissan's HR16DE engine.[6]
2011 update[edit]
On August 25, 2010, the updated models of both the Livina and Livina Geniss were launched in China. On February 10, 2011, the updated models of the Grand Livina were launched in Indonesia by Nissan Motor Indonesia. Changes mainly focused on minor exterior changes such as the front grille, wheel design, side body molding, side turning signals, as well as additions of existing higher model features applied on the lower models. Interior change involves color changes from beige and brown to black.
The facelifted Grand Livina was offered in 1.5 S, 1.5 SV, 1.5 XV, 1.5 Ultimate, and 1.5 & 1.8 Highway Star model grades. The 1.8 XV and 1.8 Ultimate were discontinued. The facelifted Grand Livina Highway Star was launched on September 27, 2011. On August 31, 2012, the XV and Ultimate shared the same sporty Autech front bumper as the Highway Star, but full body kits and sporty alloy wheels are exclusive for the Highway Star only.
The L10 series Livina are still offered in Brazil and South Africa after the L11 series Livina models were introduced in China and Southeast Asian countries.

Spy shots of the L11-series Livina were published online on October 8, 2012.[7] The L11-series Livina was first introduced in China at the 15th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition in April 2013, with redesigned front and rear fascias.
On May 29, 2013, the L11 Grand Livina and Grand Livina X-Gear were launched in Indonesia. All models are 7-seater, while the 5-seater Livina XR is discontinued and the Livina X-Gear would be released later. The new models have revised front end, front fenders and rear panels with distinctive taillights and trunk garnishes. The Grand Livina X-Gear comes with different front bumpers, black over fenders, black body cladding and roof rails.
Trim levels for the Indonesian market Grand Livina are SV, XV, and Highway Star. All regular Grand Livina models have 1.5-liter motor, while buyers of the 7-seater X-Gear could choose the 1.5 or 1.8-liter MR18DE. The 1.5-liter HR15DE now employs dual injectors & dual variable valve timing control (VTC) matched to 5 speed manual or automatic Xtronic CVT. The 1.8-liter engine retained the 6 speed manual or regular 4 speed automatic. Full body kits are only installed on the Highway Star. In March 2014, Nissan Indonesia decided to end the production of Grand Livina X-Gear with 1.8-liter engine, citing lack of demand as its reason.
The L11 Grand Livina for the Malaysian market has the 1.6-liter HR16DE with either a 5-Speed Manual or 4-Speed Automatic with Lock-Up Torque Converter, or 1.8-liter with 4-Speed Automatic with Lock-Up Torque Converter only[8]. In March 2014, the Livina X-Gear was launched in Malaysia as the Nissan X-Gear powered by the Nissan's HR16DE engine mated to a 4-speed automatic gearbox.[9] The 1.6-liter manual Grand Livina has since been discontinued in Malaysia.[10]
The L11 Livina X-Gear 5-seater was introduced in China, and later also in Indonesia and other markets in September 2013. The redesigned 5-seater has the same front panels and trunk as the longer Grand Livina X-Gear. The Livina X-Gear for Indonesia is powered by a 1.5-liter engine. In the meantime the 5-seater X-Gear is the only Livina sold in Thailand and Taiwan. In these countries, the so-called Livina only is powered by the 1.6-liter engine.
On June 20, 2014, Nissan Motor Indonesia introduced the Highway Star Autech variant of the Grand Livina. It has a different front bumper design with bigger fog lights, new grille, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Inside it's equipped with black leather interior (instead of beige leather on the regular Highway Star) and audio switches on the steering wheel. The roof rails from the regular Highway Star was removed, although the rest of the car is unchanged.
On June 1, 2016, Nissan Motor Indonesia introduced the Grand Livina XV Highway Star. It replaces the regular (non-Autech) Highway Star and retains the interior of the XV which is based on. The XV and base model SV got restyled alloy wheels and upgraded sound system.
On March 10, 2018, the Grand Livina Special Version was released, based on the SV and XV with aero bodykit and daytime running lamps.
On January 18, 2019, Nissan Motor Indonesia ceased the production of the Grand Livina on its plant.

The second generation Livina is a rebadged variant of the Mitsubishi Xpander, with a different front fascia, including a larger Nissan's V-Motion grille, restyled headlamps and lower section of the bumper, as well as a restyled rear fascia, body panels and rear bumper. It is manufactured alongside the Xpander by Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia in Central Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java. It was launched alongside the C27 Serena on February 19, 2019.[11][12] As it is based on the Xpander, it is offered in one body variant only and has some crossover SUV-like proportions compared to previous generation's station wagon-like proportions.[13] It is available in four trim levels: E, EL, VE and VL. The manual transmission is offered in E and EL trims, while the automatic transmission is offered in EL, VE and VL trims.
